L2 DATA TRANSMISSION CHANNELS
Layer 2 data transmission provides connectivity within a single office or building, enabling communication between various devices in your local network, such as employee computers, servers, and other equipment. To connect two or more offices into a single large local area network (LAN), L2 data transmission channels, also known as Layer 2 channels, are used. These channels establish a direct connection over long distances, linking different devices across multiple locations as if they were on the same network.
L3 DATA TRANSMISSION CHANNELS
Layer 3 data transmission channels differ from L2 in that they operate at the network addressing level, such as IP addresses, and manage data routing through various external networks. While L3 channels may have slightly higher latency, their ability to work with network addresses offers greater flexibility in configuring and managing networks, particularly for large organizations with multiple branches.
